Eastern Neuropsychology is a Melbourne based private neuropsychology practice operating Victoria wide. We travel and provide services to regional areas within Victoria - including Geelong, Gippsland, Ballarat, Bendigo, Wangaratta, Warnambool and the Goulburn Valley - and we regularly complete home assessments.
We specialise in neuropsychological services for legal and forensic purposes, along with comprehensive diagnostic assessments. We can assist with management of cognitive difficulties, along with establish baseline assessments. Eastern Neuropsychology also provides assessment of issues concerning Decision Making Capacity. Dr Robert Bourke is the founder and director of Eastern Neuropsychology. He completed a Doctorate in Clinical Neuropsychology at The University of Melbourne in 2008. Dr Bourke has over 16 years experience in forensic neuropsychology and how cognitive impairment impacts on offending behaviour. He has also worked over the past decade assessing acquired brain injury and other causes of cognitive impairment in the criminal justice system, including the provision of expert evidence in court. Dr Bourke also has extensive experience in the areas of acute neurology, rehabilitation, geriatric neuropsychology including the diagnosis of dementia and the assessment of decision making capacity.
Dr Bourke previously held employment in the public health sector in several senior leadership neuropsychology roles, including appointments as Manager of the Neuropsychology Unit at Monash Medical Centre, Monash Health, along with the role of lead neuropsychologist within the Cognitive Neurology Service at The Royal Melbourne Hospital.
Mr James Morgan
Mr James Morgan is an associate Clinical Neuropsychologist at Eastern Neuropsychology. He completed a Master of Clinical Neuropsychology at La Trobe University in 2021.
James has several years’ experience in forensic neuropsychology, particularly in understanding how cognitive impairments influence offending behaviour. James also has almost five years’ experience delivering neuropsychological services in the areas of psychiatry, rehabilitation, acute neurology, and geriatric neuropsychology including diagnosis of neurodegenerative conditions (i.e., dementias) and evaluating decision-making capacity.
Along with his private role, James holds dual roles within Monash Health, serving in neuropsychology positions across the Adult Mental Health Program (Unit 4, Secure Extended Care Unit) and Residential Aged Care Services.
Clinical Neuropsychologist
Dr Sam Humphrey joined Eastern Neuropsychology as an associate in 2020. He completed a Master of Clinical Neuropsychology at La Trobe University in 2019, followed by a Doctor of Philosophy in 2024. Dr Humphrey has a range of experience in the areas of neurology (particularly stroke and dementia), forensic neuropsychology, and the assessment of decision-making capacity. In addition to his private work, Dr Humphrey currently holds appointments in the Neuropsychology Unit at Monash Health and Cognitive Neurology Service at The Royal Melbourne Hospital.
